The stress of screening

The testing facility, set up in the administrative offices across from the emergencies, was one of the institution's great feats of strength during the crisis. 130 students of the HES nursing course were called in to perform thousands of COVID-19 tests, with peaks of more than 250 consultations per day!

Mobile teams were also put together to test hospitalised patients.

Two methods were used at the CHUV: nasal swab tests or serological tests.

Classrooms and offices were converted to accommodate patients in compliance with safety measures.

Laboratory activity was also disrupted by the sudden cancellation of non-urgent procedures and the new needs related to COVID-19.
